HOSTEL, LAXMINARAYAN COLLEGE, JHARSUGUDA

The institution provides hostel accommodation to both female and male students. The Ladies Hostel of the college is situated beside the college. Whereas the Golden Jubilee Boy’s hostel is situated about 200 meters away from the college. Further two more hostels are being constructed for both male and female (One for Each). Currently the Boys Hostel offers 50 seats with 20 rooms. The Ladies hostel provides 120seats with 20 rooms. Both the hostels have facilities like reading room, mess, purified drinking water, CC TV, rain water harvesting system, inverter, gym instrument etc. The college appoints hostel authorities like Superintendent and Dy. Superintendent for smooth running of the hostels.

Rules Regulations

The internal management of the hostel rests with the Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent of the hostel.

• A study hour is maintained in the hostel from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and daily attendance is taken during the study hour. Absent during this hour is liable to punishment.
• Inmates of a room must ensure that fan and light points are put off when no one is present in the room.
• Boarders are responsible for the safe keeping of the furniture and articles supplied to them. They will also be responsible for the safety and security of their cash, books, cycle and other personal properties.
• The hostel provides a common room with a T.V. set and some other indoor game articles, newspaper and periodicals approved by the Superintendent. The common room will remain open for boarders during specified hours as directed by the Superintendent.
• The following are considered as breaches of discipline :
• Absence from the hostel without leave.
• Continued neglect of study.
• Want of cleanliness and tidiness in the room.
• Disobedience and abatement of rules and regulations.
• Unruly act of behavior inside the hostel campus.
• When ever boarders leave the hostel for any vacation or for any private purpose, they must apply to the Superintendent for leave and obtain his/her permission. Any student remain absent without prior permission will be liable to fine or remove from the hostel.
• The Superintendent shall nominate a perfect among the boarders. The perfect will conduct roll call twice daily at a specified time.
• The following practices are strictly forbidden in the hostel:
• Introduction of any unauthorized person in to the hostel.
• Singing or playing musical instruments or watching TV except during hours prescribed by the Superintendent.
• Holding of any meeting without approval of the Superintendent.
• Joining or taking part in any association or meeting outside the hostel or being involved in its activities without permission of the authority.
• Writing and/or disfiguring the walls and doors of the hostel.
• The use of drugs, intoxicant, tobacco etc.
• Use of playing cards for any form of gambling.
• Making damage to the hostel property, electrical fitting and water fitting.
• The boarders shall have to live only in the room allotted to them.
• The hostel gates shall remain closed from 06.30 p.m. to 5.30 a.m. for boy’s hostel and 05.30 p.m. to 5.30 a.m. for ladies hostel. During this period, no person shall be allowed to enter or exit from campus without permission from the hostel authority.
• In case of any difficulty, problems or complaint the boarder must contact the hostel authority and must never take the law in his own hand.
• The hostel boarders must produce receipts of the various fees paid by them,whenever they are asked to do the same.
• In each month a meeting will be held to discuss the problems and functioning of the hostel among the hostel official and boarders.
• At the end of the academic session the inmate must return the key of the room to the hostel authority.
• The hostel authority will not be responsibility for any unpleasant activities / incident outsidethe hostel premises.
• Any types of raging are strictly prohibited in both hostels. If anyone is caught involved in such activities, strict action will be taken against them.

Hostel authorities can change any of the above rules and regulations in any time.
