1. ECO CLUB
We all are aware of the degrading condition of our environment day by day. Over consumption of natural resources results in the environmental degradation reducing the effectiveness of essential ecosystem services resulting in floods, drought, cyclone, etc. This leads to increased risk from disasters and in turn natural hazards can further degrade the environment.
To highlight the alarming issues of environmental degradation, our college has created an Eco Club.
Eco Club plays an important role in creating awareness of the environmental issues, challenges and their remedial measures amongst the students. The main aim of establishing Eco Club is to create awareness among students and staff of conservation of biodiversity and local environment.
Objectives
- To inculcate the environment friendly habits among students.
- To motivate students to keep the environment clean and healthy and improve the condition of our natural and learning environment.
- To help students to disseminate the message of conservation of nature.
- To make students realize to work towards preventing pollution of water, air and soil.
- To motivate students to conserve water
- To motivate students to keep their surroundings green by undertaking plantation drives
- To save the global environment by all and to promote environment awareness among the students.
- To spread the essence of soil and environment to the society through students.
- To organize, encourage and motivate everyone in the public to help save the mother earth.
Eco Club organizes seminars and special lectures on environmental issues in the college, campaigns against banned plastic carry bags and fireworks, use of loud speakers, campaigns for segregation of waste, recycling of paper etc. It organises rallies, camps and other such programmes in association with the NCC, NSS and YRC wings of the college to create awareness among people in the community
2. ELECTORAL LITERACY CLUB
An Electoral Literacy Club is a platform to engage school and college students through interesting activities and hands-on experience to sensitise them on their electoral rights and familiarise them with the electoral process of registration and voting. Through ELC, Election Commission of India, aims at strengthening the culture of electoral participation among young and future voters.
The Electoral Literacy Club of Laxminarayan College, Jharsuguda has been formed as per the direction and instruction of the District Election Officer, Jharsuguda. Though it has come to exist from 2022, the activities like observation of Constitution Day, National Voter’s Day, Birthday of Baba Saheb Ambedkar, etc. to create awareness regarding electoral process, voting rights, etc. have been done as a part of the extra-curricular activities of the college. Currently the ELC, in collaboration with NCC, NSS, YRC and other departments, is doing great works to create the future citizens of India.
3. SELF DEFENSE TRAINING CLUB FOR GIRLS
The Self-defence training programme is a flagship programme of the Higher Education Department, Government of Odisha started in 2013 to train 2.5 lakh college girls, both in undergraduate and postgraduate levels as part of its commitment in the State Youth Policy, 2013. Since then Laxminarayan College has established SELF DEFENSE TRAINING CLUB FOR GIRLS to impart self-defense training. Self-defence is a set of awareness, assertiveness, verbal confrontation skills, safety strategies, and physical techniques that enable someone to successfully escape, resist, and survive violent attacks. A good self-defense course provides psychological awareness and verbal skills, not just physical training.
The Club helps in teaching the girls the basic steps of self-defense. This training programme is both for +2 and +3 girls in 1st year. Keeping view on the safety and security of girls, this initiative of the state government is quite praiseworthy.
4. CAREER COUNSELLING AND PLACEMENT CELL
The Career Counseling and placement Cell of Laxminarayan College, Jharsuguda provides personal and Professional guidance to students of the College. Personal Counseling Sessions are conducted by qualified and experienced Counselors to help students resolve any kind of problems that they might face. Besides career-related problems, personal issues are also dealt with. Thus the Counseling Cell provides a platform for students to pursue both their professional and personal goals with greater self-awareness, self-esteem, understanding and a focus.
Students are given career guidance starting from first year respective to the subjects they learn. Placement orientation programs are organized to encourage students to participate in the placement drives.
Objectives:

● Work with students on their needs for career development.
● Conduct trainings, workshops, lectures, presentations, and other events to develop career planning and employability skills for students.

● Educate students on resume building, interview skills, and professionalism.
● Conduct mock interviews and job search workshops for students.
● Conduct career awareness events for students
● Execute outreach programs to promote career services among students.
● Maintain a database of student academic and employment records
5. GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL CELL
The College is committed to providing a congenial atmosphere for learning and personal growth of students. Besides other welfare measures, a grievance mechanism is created to encourage students to express individual and group concerns related to academic and non-academic matters. A Suggestion/Complaint Box to redress the Sexual Harassment, Anti Ragging and other issues is placed near the Principal’s office. Departments have also kept the boxes to collect grievances from the students. The students are informed of this redressal mechanism at the time of induction so that if the need arises, they can drop their suggestions or complaints in the respective drop boxes which will facilitate first-hand information for action to be taken. Complaints are handled in a sympathetic, fair, and efficient manner encouraging early resolution, individual privacy and confidentiality. As suggested by the University Grants Commission, the college has established the Grievance Redressal Cell. The Grievance Redressal Committee looks in to the grievances put by students and staff and takes necessary steps to redress the grievances.
6. ANTI-RAGGING CELL
As per the UGC regulations the College has constituted the Anti- Ragging Cell and formed an Anti-ragging Squad to prevent the menace of ragging and foster healthy interpersonal relations among students in the campus of Laxminarayan College, Jharsuguda. Ragging is strictly forbidden in or outside the college campus. All students shall familiarize themselves with rules/regulations/guidelines on code of conduct and anti-ragging measures of the College. All new students are directed to attend counselling sessions organized for them from time to time by the Anti-ragging Cell.
Objectives:
1. To create awareness among the students of dehumanizing effect of ragging inherent in its perversity.
2. To keep a continuous watch and vigil over ragging so as to prevent its occurrence and recurrence.
3. To promptly and stringently deal with the incidents of ragging brought to our notice.
Functions of the Cell:
1. To consider the complaints received from the students and conduct enquiry and submit report to the Anti- Ragging Committee along with punishment recommended for the offenders
2. To monitor the obtaining of undertaking from the students in accordance with the provisions
3. To orient the students by conducting awareness programmes against ragging menace
4. To provide students the information pertaining to contact address and telephone numbers of the person(s) identified to receive complaints/distress calls
5. To create awareness among the students about Anti ragging.
6. To take all necessary measures for prevention of Ragging inside the Campus/ Hostels.

7. ANTI-RAGGING SQUAD
The college has constituted an 'anti-ragging squad' comprising of faculty members and selected non-teaching staff who are responsible for discipline and compliance. The college is committed to zero tolerance for ragging. As per the directions of the Honorable Supreme Court of India, the University Grants Commission has enforced a regulation to curb the menace of ragging in higher educational institutions u/s 26(1) of UGC Act, 1956.
Anti-Ragging Squad of the College works under the monitoring of Anti Ragging Committee and seeks advice from the Anti-Ragging Committee. The Anti-Ragging Squad keeps vigil and stops the incidences of Ragging, that happens in the places of Student aggregation including, Classrooms, Canteens, Buses, Grounds, Hostels etc. Ragging incidences reported if any, will be investigated and strict disciplinary action will be taken. The Squad also educates the students at large by adopting various means about the menace of Ragging and related Punishments there to. A gamut of positive reinforcement activities are adopted by Anti-Ragging Squad for orienting students and molding their personality for a better cause. They work in consonance and guidance of Anti Ragging Committee.
8. SEXUAL HARASSMENT PREVENTION CELL
With the thought of building a healthy and safe educational atmosphere free from any kind of discrimination and harassment, the Sexual Harassment Prevention Cell of the College has been established to eradicate any kind of sexual abuse. The Cell is well-designed with distinct objectives that are implemented to uphold zero tolerance towards sexual harassment. It addresses every complaint of the students, teaching and non-teaching staff members with utmost care and attention and the problem is resolved within the shortest time period possible. The Cell follows a systematic procedure in filing, investigating and resolving the issue and is impartial towardsanyone to safeguard the integrity, privacy and rights of every person.
The policy of this Cell is to provide protection against sexual harassment and for prevention and redressal of complaints of sexual harassment and matters connected therewith and incidental thereto. The Policy also endeavours to set expectations regarding workplace behaviour and provide with a framework for reporting concerns.
The Cell organizes several sensitization programmes in the college to create a healthy atmosphere
9. SCHOLARSHIP CELL
The college has a Scholarship Cell committed to assisting students in accessing financial aid opportunities for their education. The Cell provides comprehensive guidance and support to students seeking scholarships and grants. It actively researches and disseminates information about various scholarship programs offered by governmental, non-governmental and private organizations. The Cell assists students in understanding eligibility criteria, application procedures and deadlines for different scholarship schemes. It offers personalized assistance in preparing scholarship applications, including documentation and recommendation letters, to enhance students’ chances of success.
Through its in-time initiatives, the Scholarship Cell aims to alleviate financial barriers to education and empower students to achieve their academic goals. The Scholarship Cell, in association with the Equal Opportunity Cell, organizes orientations and sensitization programmes, so that the students avail the opportunity to fight against the barriers to educational opportunities.
10. INCUBATION AND INNOVATION CELL
The Innovation and Incubation Cell of Laxminarayan College, Jharsuguda is established from 2022-23 with an aim to encourage, nurture and harvest the scientific and entrepreneurial capabilities of the students and provide them with opportunities to have startups. This in-turn is expected to inculcate spirit of curiosity, research and innovation in both faculty and students, encouraging them to step out of their boundaries to achieve beyond their academic persuasions.
The IIC is currently working towards creating the spirit of innovation in the minds of students who have enthusiasm, critical thinking and passion to do something pioneering .Towards that goal a registration process has been implemented to find the students who are interested .We are conducting talks by external speakers, workshops and interactive sessions to educate them on the idea of entrepreneurship, IPR, funding options for entrepreneurs, managerial decisions and attitudes involved etc. We encourage the students to approach the IIC for provision of space, support and guidance in their endeavor.
11. WOMEN DEVELOPMENT AND GENDER SENSITISATION CELL
Women Empowerment and Gender Equality are the most important requirements for the upliftment and progress of our country. In the effort to make Laxminarayan College, Jharsuguda a strong advocate of gender sensitization, the Women Development and Gender Sensitization Cell has been constituted. The Cell works with an aim to create a gender sensitized community within campus as well as in the society. It has been organising various activities for the awareness and upliftment of women and spread the real importance of gender equality in the society through College students.
The Cell encourages the girl students by recognizing their talents with felicitations. Recommends for female faculty members at different platforms to showcase their talents.
12. EQUAL OPPORTUNITY CELL (FOR MINORITIES/SC/ST/OBC/WOMEN/PWD)
Equal Opportunity Cell (For Minorities/SC/ST/OBC/Women/Pwd) of Laxminarayan College, Jharsuguda is committed to provide social justice by means of equal opportunity to the persons belong to group viz. SCs/STs/OBCs (Non-Creamy Layer)/Person with Disabilities and women. Equal Opportunity Cell ensures that students and staff belonging to various diverse backgrounds of community, religion, region, gender or ability are not deprived of their basic opportunities.
Students from SC, ST,OBC, PH, and Minority backgrounds may report to the members of the committee against any physical or psychological harassment they experience. The complaint may be submitted in writing, over telephone, or digital format, such as email and utilizing the link provided on the college website. Such complaints may be made by the victimized student, an associate thereof, the Class Representative, or any individual possessing knowledge of the incident.
13. INTERNAL COMPLAINTS COMMITTEE
Internal complaint committee is a committee that receives complaints on sexual harassment at the workplace from an aggrieved women (student or staff member), as well as inquire into and the recommendation to the employer on the action required pursuant to its inquiry of such complaint made.
Laxminarayan College, Jharsuguda has zero tolerance against disrespect and exploitation of women. The present Internal Complaint Committee was established for a period of two years as per the provisions of “The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013”.
As per the UGC Guidelines, the Committee has a few faculty members, one external member from the field of Law or NGO and two or three students, who try to provide justice to the person through certain mechanism.
14. DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE
Though maintaining discipline is everyone’s duty in an educational institution, yet the task has been assigned to the Discipline Committee that ensures a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment in our college for all. The following are the functions of it.
It maintains order by upholding the college's code of conduct, which outlines expected behavior.
Addressing violations of the code, such as academic dishonesty, vandalism, or disruptive behavior.
It investigates by looking into allegations of misconduct through inquiries and hearings.
This may involve gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and allowing the accused student to present their case.
Determining appropriate disciplinary actions based on the severity of the offense.
These actions could range from warnings to suspension or even expulsion.
It takes preventative measures by raising awareness about the code of conduct and its importance.
Working to create a positive and inclusive campus culture that minimizes misconduct.
Overall, the Discipline Committee plays a balancing act between ensuring fairness for students and maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment for everyone.
15. CULTURAL & DRAMATIC ASSOCIATION
The Cultural association provides a platform for students to display their talents in theatre, music and art. This association encourages and trains students to participate in cultural activities organized within and outside the College. The students have made us proud by winning the inter-collegiate drama competitions on several occasions.
The Cultural as well as Dramatic Association encourages the students to showcase their talents. Cultural events include various competitions such as poster making, dance, singing, fashion show, drama, poetry and stand-up comedy.
The Cultural Association coordinates the inter-college competitions on the occasion of different commemorative days like Independence day, Republic Day, Odisha Diwas, Hindi Diwas, Gangadhar Jayanti and Kavi Binod Naik Jayanti, etc.
The Dramatic Association helps different Cells to organize street plays to create awareness among students and public.
16. ATHELETICS ASSOCIATION (SPORTS CLUB)
The Athletics Association of our College provides leadership and recreation opportunities to the students and faculty in order to enhance their knowledge and skill in a specific sport of interest while at the same time retaining social, cognitive and physical experiences.

Vanijya Parishad, the Commerce Society at Laxminarayan College,Jharsuguda aims to make a difference in the domain of learning through practical exposure of the students of not only the department of Commerce, but also of other students interested in business to the insights of the world of business and commerce.
The Parishad has been one of the oldest society in the college. It has been, since its inception, organizing various events and activities each academic year related to the domain of commerce as an extension of the curriculum to provide a platform to the students to hone their entrepreneurial skills at networking as well as understanding the nuances of the business world. It thus, provides students with the opportunities to explore subjects beyond the classroom and comprehend and imbibe critical life skills. This has been helping a lot in developing their communication skills, boosting their confidence and increasing their motivation levels, creating well rounded individuals and making them great team players.
The Parishad in collaboration with the Incubation and Innovation Cell as well as Entrepreneurship Cell tries to create an atmosphere in the college to encourage students for self-dependency without searching for jobs in the market.

The Science Society is a vibrant centre for students passionate about exploring the wonders of science. The Research Committee of Laxminarayan College, Jharsuguda aims at creating a research environment in the college by sensitizing the faculty and students to involve in research activities.

· Arrange various programmes for the research capacity building among the student as well as teachers.
· Encourage faculty to engage in research in their respective fields, and thereby enable an efficient exchange of knowledge and ideas with the student community

· Encourage faculty members to write project proposals and encourage them to pursue such projects with the funding agencies like UGC, DST-DBT, ICSSR, CSIR and ICHR etc.

· Provide necessary links of e-library facilities in the website to help the researchers to get the vast resources of research materials
· Spread awareness on the importance of ethical practices and considerations in research
· Create awareness among students and members of the faculty about conducting research that is original and authentic
22. SOCIAL SERVICE GUILD
SOCIAL SERVICE GUILD
The College has a Social Service Guild and the available funds are utilised for rendering financial help to the deserving poor students of the college.
The students are expected to repay the amount they might have received as help when they are settled in life.The needy students may apply for help in such a manner and time, which the committee will notify.
Secretary of the Committee arranges the meeting of the committee with the consolation of the principal to formulate Rules, Budget and Selection of students for help. He keeps the records of proceedings.
Disbursement of fund will be made by the college office on receipt of the list of recommendation from the V.P of Social Service Guild (S.S.G.)
